Calvin Harris

SO. In general, i think this guy has done a pretty amazing job at proving everyone wrong, INCLUDING the music industry. Let's go back almost exactly a year ago when Chris Brown released his single Yeah 3X in October of 10'. Sounds almost exactly like Calvin Harris' "I'm Not Alone" (1st single from his 2nd album). In an interview he stated that he was upset about the song and the major success of the track but that he wasn't going to seek any major action over it which is pretty damn modest if you ask me. Had Harris done that to Chris Brown you already know that his ass would have been pounded in court. Anyways. Not a very well known fact but Harris has actually been working since 2003 making demo's and was originally discovered on MySpace . However he has been in the industry since 2006 when he released his first album AND (drumroll please) when he produced Kylie Minogue's "In My Arms". Madonna also sampled "Im Not Alone" during her sticky and sweet tour. So hey! This guy already has a lot under his belt before all of this happened. To be honest when i heard all of the nonsense with Chris Brown happening in the news i thought to myself ,"jeez this guy's career was just ruined". Boy was i wrong.

Since 2010, besides performing at multiple music festivals alongside major DJ's such as Afrojack and Tiesto, he has collabed with Kylie Minogue (Too Much), Benni Benassi, Kelis and he toured with Superstar Rihanna during her 2011 "Loud" tour. During that, they collaberated and he produced the lead single , "We found Love" off her new and upcoming album, "Talk that Talk" (Which i am ecstaticly waiting to drop). The first single, "Bounce" from his unnamed 3rd album was INCREDIBLE. With Kelis on vocals and Harris mixing, they came out with a beautiful sound together. In my opinion, one of his best works. He ALSO released the 2nd single "Feel So Close" this year which might not have reached the top ten in the US but made number 1 on the UK dance chart and in Scotland AND it made the top 10 on the UK singles chart, Ireland and New Zealand, alongside major radio play in the USA. Listening to these two singles you can really tell this guy know's what he is doing. He has created a sound that is unique to him and his work and the mainstream public is FINALLY starting to eat it up.

Altogether i think this guy has made his way back into the mainstream and hopefully will be getting more recognition on the top 100 soon. Can't wait for that 3rd album to drop already!!
